What AI Can't Do: Therapeutic Practices that Distinguish Humans in the Age of AI. November 7th, 2026
This training examines the clinical mechanisms that differentiate human-delivered psychotherapy from AI-based mental health tools. Participants will identify specific therapeutic functions that current AI systems do not reliably perform: real-time attunement, embodied coregulation, non-collusive validation, and rupture and repair. Therapists will learn interventions from attachment-based and experiential models, including AEDP informed practice, that make deliberate use of those functions. The training also addresses how to assess, discuss, and integrate client AI use within assessment and diagnosis.
